From Our Family’s Groves to Your Table

At Laconiko Distributors LLC, our story begins long before the business—it begins with family.

I, Olga Pierrakos, was born in southern Greece, where our family has cultivated olives for generations. Olive oil was not just part of our diet—it was part of our identity, our culture, and our way of life. There are so many memories as a child climbing olive trees and seeing my parents manage the harvest year after year. Our region of Greece is Laconia, where modern day Sparta resides. The name “Laconiko” is adapted from this Spartan region of Greece now known as Laconia.

In 2008, with my brothers Diamantis and Dino, I co-founded Laconiko with a simple belief: our family’s olive oil was something special—and the world deserved to experience it. That same year, I submitted our olive oil to the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition because I believed in the quality of production our father was overseeing. We earned our very first award—a Silver Medal. I knew then: this was only the beginning. We designed the logo, bottle labels, and launched a website. That was only the beginning to what has become a success story.

Having relocated to Harrisonburg, Virginia for work, my husband John Karabelas and I did not forget Laconiko. We found the first two businesses that believed in our quality olive oil. The first two businesses to sell our Laconiko EVOO were Feast and Oil & Vinegar in Charlottesville, VA. Forever grateful to our Charlottesville business partners.

A Legacy of Excellence

Since that first award recognition, my brothers have continued to refine and elevate the quality of our family’s olive oil with relentless dedication. They built out the Laconiko products with intentionality around top quality and excellence. What started as a single award has grown into over 745 international awards, a testament to their commitment to excellence, innovation, and authenticity.

While Diamanti and Dino expanded and strengthened the Laconiko brand, I founded two engineering programs from ground up, served our nation working at the National Science Foundation, and with my husband raised our four children. Since 2017, home for us is Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

With our boys now older and in high school, we felt a calling to reconnect the next generation to our roots. Living in Winston-Salem, NC, we launched Laconiko Distributors LLC to bring our family’s legacy full circle—expanding access to authentic, high-quality olive oil across the Carolinas. This is not just about distribution. It is about continuing a family story—and inviting others into it.
